Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with performances this poor.”

He stated, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
