Renowned Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.
American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently following treatment for cancer since 2022, per media reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a statement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
A Notable Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, such as:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.
Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
